VILLAGE 7 HIGH SCHOOL

Chula Vista, California

The campus plan is derived from the experiential relationship of art and technology infused with geometry. The radial arc of the central plaza has as its origin the colorful art piece that is in the courtyard of the Career-to-Business Center. The arc’s outward thrust is revealed by the levitated silver roof of the multi-purpose pavilion.

The architectural parti employs dynamically composed forms and contrasting materials (polished metal roofs against coarse cement plaster) to liberate the aesthetics from its structure. This can be seen in the vault of the entry lobby to the administration building or the randomly tilted columns of the multi-purpose pavilion with their truncated wall panels.
